The Free State Chamber of Commerce and Industry will take things up one gear in its next webinar when a word artist performs during their virtual event with a performance in the beginning and the closing of their session. Chamber CEO,

Renaldo Meyer, said they wanted to introduce a new dimension to the weekly discussion that kicked off in July. Chamber President and business coach, Thabo Pitse, will be the guest speaker on Tuesday, 18 August 2020, and will speak on the 6 steps to build a finished business that you can franchise, sell, keep for passive income or pass to the next generation.

During this past Tuesday’s session active citizenry and participation in the law making process were the topic of discussion. Free State Legislature Attorney and legal advisor, Connie Khantsi-Sefo, was the guest speaker and highlighted the importance of participation in the law making process, saying it was not a smart move to only participate only after five years during election period.

She emphasized that it was important to be informed about public participation session and participate as many decisions were often made based of the participation of people who do not have adequate insights. “A minimalist approach to public participation creates gaps wide enough to let an important piece of legislation which has significant implications on the public to be passed,” she said.

Renaldo said the main objective is to advocate economic growth and employment in the region.

Priorities of the chamber include:

 Enabling an innovation ecosystem
 Promoting regulatory coherence and increasing the ease of doing business
 Enhancing agreements and education regarding policy making and mitigation
 Expanding commercial support for Free State business.
